Soy bean fiber

Soy bean fiber is a bit of a ‘latest’ trend amongst us eco parents. Soybean protein fiber is a sustainable and botanical textile fiber made from renewable and biodegradable natural resources - the leftover soybean pulp from tofu and soymilk production. It’s a textile that is made from recycled material and it does not add any extra burden to mother nature. It supports the cradle-to-cradle concept.

A friend of mine from Texas sent along some soybean baby clothes for my little sunshine. Here she is modeling the signature hat.

Unclogging Drains

Firstly, keep a jar by your stove to collect as much grease and oil from cooking as you are able. These are the main culprits for clogging your drains.

Secondly, act as soon as you notice a blockage. The longer you leave it the bigger the build-up, and subsequently the more difficult it will be to unclog.

1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup vinegar

Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain, then add 1/2 cup of vinegar.
Cover the hole with a wet towel.
Wait about 5-10 minutes, then pour hot waterdown the drain.
Repeat if necessary.

This is an especially great method to clean the gunk that gets splattered at the top.

microwave safe dish
¼ cup vinegar

In a microwave safe dish place 2 cups of water and ¼ cup vinegar. Microwave for 3-5 minutes so that it boils.
Wipe down microwave with damp cloth.

You can reuse the cooled vinegar solution around your kitchen.
